What are the Computer Group Management Provisions in Securden?

You can import computer groups from Active Directory, Azure AD domains, and create groups manually for organizing non-domain computers efficiently. You can configure group synchronization for domain computers.

Securden provided computer group specific reports that provide insights into the agent version running on each computer.

How to Add Domain Computer Groups into Securden EPM?

You can import computer groups or entire OUs from our Active Directory domain. You can also import Azure AD computer groups by connecting to the domains and selecting the specific Azure AD groups for import.

To import computer groups from Active Directory, navigate to Computers >> Computer Groups >> Add >> Import from AD and follow the steps below.

How To Import Active Directory Computer Groups Into EPM

  • Select the AD domain from the drop-down menu. If you want to add a new domain here, you can refer to this section for help.

  • You can optionally change the account used for authenticating with the Active Directory domain.

  • Once the required details are filled, click Next.

In this GUI, you have the flexibility to fetch computers from OUs/Groups in bulk in a single step. That means you can enter the names of the OU/Groups to be discovered in any combination as you wish. Once the discovery process is over, you can browse the groups and OU tree and select the required groups.

For example, if you want to fetch computers from an OU and a group,

1) First enter/browse and select the name of the OU, click Discover. You can also browse the OU tree and select the required OU.

2) Go to the Groups tab, select/browse the name of the group, and click Discover. You can also browse the domain group tree and select the required entities.

3) Once the entities are selected, you have the option to choose whether to not import the subgroups of the selected entities. You can click the expand the advanced settings to choose this.

4) Verify the selected entities and finally click Import.

Securden will fetch all computers that are part of the OU and group specified.

How to Import Domain Computer Groups from Azure AD?

Azure AD computer groups can be imported by connecting to an Azure enterprise application created for Securden. You need to permit the enterprise application to make use of certain APIs to fetch the required data to onboard AD computer groups into Securden.

To import Azure AD groups into Securden, navigate to Computers >> Computer Groups >> Add >> Import from Azure and follow the steps below.

1) Select the preferred Azure AD domain and click Next.

2) Search for the required Azure AD groups or browse the group structure and select the required groups.

3) Once the required groups have been selected, you can verify the selection and proceed.

4) If you want to import the selected groups without importing the sub-groups, you can choose to by changing the advanced settings.

5) Once your preferences are selected, click Import.

Once the computers are imported, a report on the process result will be displayed.

How to Create a Computer Group Manually?

You can create custom groups apart from the domain groups and add non-domain computers along with domain computers for efficient management and administration of control policies.

To create a computer group manually, navigate to Computers >> Computer Groups >> Add >> Add Group Manually and follow the steps below.

1) Provide a suitable name for the computer group. This is purely for identification purposes.

2) You can provide a suitable description for the group.

3) Click on Add Members to add the required endpoints. Here you can add both domain and non-domain computers.

4) Once all the required computers are added, click on Save.

How to Set Up Domain Computer Group Synchronization?

Once domain computer groups are added to Securden, you can periodically synchronize them with the AD or Azure domain. To set up periodic synchronization, navigate to Computers >> Computer Group and click on the required group.

You can sync the group members instantly by clicking Sync Members.

How To Synchronize Domain Group Members In EPM With AD Or Azure AD

You can schedule synchronization by clicking on the Periodically Synchronize Computer. Here, you have two options, Synchronize Once or Synchronize Periodically. To schedule once, you need to specify the date and time of synchronization.
